On Sunday, September 18, in Maastricht, Netherlands, Academician and Professor of Toxicology, Mr. Aristidis Tsatsakis, was awarded the prestigious EUROTOX Merit Award by the organizing and scientific committee of the 16th International Congress of Toxicology. The award constitutes the absolute recognition of the scientific and academic work and the outstanding contribution in the field of Toxicology. It is worth noting that this is the first time that this award has been given to a Greek scientist and one of the few times it has been awarded to a Southern European Toxicologist.
Ο Καθηγητής Αριστείδης Τσατσάκης είναι μέλος του προγράμματος εξειδίκευσης Μεταβολομική και Κλινική Εφαρμογή στα Αυτοάνοσα και Χρόνια Νοσήματα του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (ΕΚΠΑ)
Σκοπός του προγράμματος είναι η εξοικείωση των εκπαιδευόμενων με την κλινική εφαρμογή της Μεταβολομικής σε Αυτοάνοσα και Χρόνια Νοσήματα. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, οι εκπαιδευόμενοι θα διδαχθούν βασικές έννοιες μεταβολομικής, βιοχημείας, -omics sciences, ιατρικής ακριβείας και κλινικής ανοσολογίας, με σκοπό την κατανόηση των μηχανισμών με τους οποίους μη-γενετικοί παράγοντες επιδρούν συνεργιστικά στην εκδήλωση των χρόνιων και αυτοάνοσων νοσημάτων, καθώς και του τρόπου με τον οποίο η ανάλυση του μεταβολιδιώματος συμβάλλει στη σύγχρονη ιατρική πράξη.
Μέσα από το πρόγραμμα οι εκπαιδευόμενοι καλούνται να κατανοήσουν τη χρήση της μεταβολομικής ως εργαλείο πρώιμης ανίχνευσης μεταβολικών διαταραχών, που, σε συνδυασμό με την κλινική εικόνα, διαμορφώνουν την ιατρική παρέμβαση.
